Falcons’ Julio Jones To Miss Sunday’s Game

Just breaking, but The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Falcons’ rookie WR Julio Jones has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Carolina following the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 5.

As is the case with all players that are ruled out this early in the week, it’s a warning sign for owners that Jones could miss more time.  The Falcons face Detroit in Week 7, which normally would be a great matchup for Jones, but then have a bye in Week 8.  So, depending on his progress, we could have seen the last of Jones until Week 9.

Week 5 ‘Jury Duty

Those crickets you hear are coming from your starting lineup after we saw another injury-plagued week of fantasy football.  Actually, I think I’m going to start listing players who were not injured each week.  List could be shorter and it would surely save me some time.

A full recap of Sunday’s action is coming later today, but for now, here’s an update on the injuries that left you screaming “NO!” at your lineup as your significant other looked on, yearning for the happiness that once was your Sunday afternoons with her.

RB Chris Johnson suffered what is being called a “minor” hamstring injury on Sunday.  He did not return after leaving the game in the 2nd half, likely because the game was out of reach.

RB LeGarrette Blount left Sunday’s game with a knee injury and did not return, although like CJ2K, it’s difficult to know whether he could have played if the game was closer, but when you’re down by 45 points, I’m not sure it’s worth the risk.  No further word on the injury, but updates will follow.

RB Joseph Addai left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury and is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.  If Addai should miss any time, as it’s being speculated, Coach Jim Caldwell said that Donald Brown would see an increased workload.

WR Julio Jones left Sunday night’s game with a left hamstring injury and did not return.  No word yet on his status.

TE Antonio Gates missed Sunday’s game but says he plans to return to action in Week 7 against the Jets.

RB Ryan Mathews supposedly left the stadium on crutches on Sunday due to a calf injury, but all signs point to the injury being minor and, for now, there’s no concern about his Week 7 playing status.

RB Mike Tolbert suffered a concussion against the Broncos, but is expected to be back in time for Week 7.

RB Tim Hightower is recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in Week 4 but plans on returning in Week 6 against Philadelphia, albeit in a reduced role thanks to Ryan Torain’s monster performance.

WR Miles Austin (hamstring) practiced on Monday and it appears he’ll be ready to go against the Patriots this coming week.  Huge game to be expected.

WR Donald Jones suffered a high-ankle sprain against Philly on Sunday and is out 4-6 weeks.  While Jones isn’t a huge factor in fantasy leagues, his teammate, David Nelson, is now in line for more targets.

WR Josh Morgan broke his leg and is scheduled to have season-ending surgery.  Ted Ginn (yes, him) will move into the starting lineup opposite Michael Crabtree.
